Sorting out my nail polishes the other day I realized that the overwhelming majority of my nail polishes are blue and purple.\u00a0 Not too much of a surprise, as I’m not a big fan of the traditional girlie pinks and reds.\u00a0 I thought I’d share a few of my blues with you since I have so many.\u00a0 Enjoy this blue spam!<\/p>\n

Wet N Wild Rain Check is a bluish grey pearl polish.\u00a0 While there’s a hint of duochrome in the bottle, it doesn’t show up as strongly on the nail.\u00a0 The consistency is watery and three coats were needed.\u00a0 But the color is so delicate and moody that I didn’t really mind.\u00a0 It really does remind me of a rainy day.<\/p>\n

Essie Lapiz of Luxury – a periwinkle blue creme that has a jelly feel. Despite the watery finish this one covered pretty well.\u00a0 This is three coats.<\/p>\n

Mattese Elite Lapis is another jelly blue.\u00a0 This one has more of a greenish undertone.\u00a0 This one is so unique, I just love it.<\/p>\n

And another Essie – Smooth Sailing.\u00a0 This is another periwinkle blue, with the addition of feathery silver flakes that add some depth and sparkle.\u00a0 A very sophisticated, summery shade that would work well as a pedicure polish.<\/p>\n

This next polish is a franken I made!\u00a0 It was my first attempt at mylar flakies, which, let me tell you, are not pleasant.\u00a0 I bought some iridescent turquoise blue flakies at Ricky’s but they were a bit too large for nail polish.\u00a0 So, I used some nail scissors and cut them down.\u00a0 What a tedious process!\u00a0 I’m still picking flakies out of my carpet a month later.\u00a0 I dumped them into a clear base with a few drops of Milani blue holographic nail polish for some shimmer.\u00a0 I believe there are a few drops of Sally Hansen Fairy Teal in there, too.\u00a0 This is one coat of my lumpy franken over two coats of Brash Electric Sky.\u00a0 It reminds me of mermaid scales.<\/p>\n

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Marine Blue.\u00a0 I’m not sure if this is discontinued?\u00a0 It’s HTF at the least I think.\u00a0 As you can see the polish consistency wasn’t very thick and tended to thin out at the nail tips.\u00a0 I hate that.\u00a0 I also got some bumps but that’s my fault for not letting my layers dry enough.<\/p>\n

And the SH as compared to NYC Empire State Blue.\u00a0 They are very close but not dupes.\u00a0 I actually preferred NYC’s formula; it was easier to work with and covered better.<\/p>\n

Nicole by OPI It’s up to Blue.\u00a0 I believe this is a Target exclusive.\u00a0 What a frustrating color.\u00a0 I bought it shortly after falling in love with OPI Brand New Skates, hoping that it would be a close cousin.\u00a0 Well, it was and it wasn’t.\u00a0 Although the foil is very similar – shifting from blue to violet to gold – I had a nightmare of a time with the formula.\u00a0 So streaky and sheer.\u00a0 I almost wanted to take it off and start over again.\u00a0 This is my semi-decent attempt at a manicure.\u00a0 Next time I’ll avoid a headache by painting this over black.<\/p>\n

Let’s see some dark blues, shall we?\u00a0 This is LA Colors Craze Blue Lagoon.\u00a0 Steely without looking black.<\/p>\n

China Glaze First Mate.\u00a0 A pretty, well-behaved creme – no complaints here.\u00a0 I felt positively naval wearing it.<\/p>\n

Then I added a coat of Revlon Blue Mosaic glitter.\u00a0 It contains mainly light blue hexes with a few large kelly green and silver ones thrown in.<\/p>\n

Brucci Heavenly Julia is a grape-tinged dark blue – dare I say blurple?\u00a0 Anyway it is perfection.\u00a0 So juicy.<\/p>\n

Fingerpaints Easel-y Entertained.\u00a0 This is a unique blurple microglitter…<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Layered over ORLY Royal Navy, a blue glass fleck.\u00a0 This one is almost electric, it has a lot of depth.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Kleancolor – I forget the name of the shade.\u00a0 Actually this brand is called Mak3 Color, a dollar store version of Kleancolors.\u00a0 Cool dark navy with a jelly finish.<\/p>\n
