{"id":474,"date":"2010-05-18T18:48:48","date_gmt":"2010-05-18T23:48:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gearbunny.net\/?p=474"},"modified":"2010-05-18T18:48:48","modified_gmt":"2010-05-18T23:48:48","slug":"your-art-studio-organization-styl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/digitalemily.com\/gearbunny\/jewelry\/your-art-studio-organization-styl\/","title":{"rendered":"Your Art Studio Organization Style"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">One of my obsessions is seeing the work spaces of artists I admire.\u00a0 It&#8217;s so interesting to get a behind-the- scenes look at how they organize their spaces and supplies.\u00a0 Do they have their own studio or do they work from home?\u00a0 Are they a Clean Queen or a Messy Bessie?\u00a0 (Yes, I just came up with that one! Clever&#8230;)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">Over the years of crafting I&#8217;ve discovered that I&#8217;m definitely a mix of both.\u00a0 Generally I like to keep all my supplies and projects displayed on my desk around me.\u00a0 That way I have my materials available at a glance to inspire me.\u00a0 I call it organized chaos.\u00a0 My loved ones call it a disaster area.\u00a0 And they may have a point &#8211; the downside to this system is that I often end up with a desk cluttered with clay, beads, pliers, tools, you name it.\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;ve also perfected the art of sweeping things off to the side of my desk to clear a workable (yet tiny) space for current crafting.\u00a0 After awhile the clutter will bring me to my knees and I do a giant clean sweep, ending up with a clear pristine desk.\u00a0 Only to accumulate again, and the cycle begins anew.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">What&#8217;s your creative space style?\u00a0 Clean Queen, Messy Bessie, or a hybrid somewhere in-between?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This was my previous workspace. \u00a0As you can imagine, I loved all the windows and light streaming in!\u00a0 Perfect for picture-taking. \u00a0The plants were a nice touch too, adding life and green to my space. \u00a0My awesome boyfriend installed the shelves for me. \u00a0What a relief to have my supplies at arm&#8217;s reach, and not crammed in a kitchen cabinet like they were before.\u00a0 Pretty much everything you see is Ikea &#8211; table, chair, side-table (actually a bedroom end table), and shelves. \u00a0The dress form was rescued from a neighbor&#8217;s garage sale for super cheap; I used to take photos of my necklaces on it to illustrate scale.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Gearbunny Art Space\" src=\"http:\/\/i11.photobucket.com\/albums\/a192\/omnipink\/DSC08392.jpg\" alt=\"Gearbunny Art Space\" width=\"350\" height=\"260\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Where the Polymer Happens<\/p><\/div>\n<p>My current art space is not so bright and open, but it gets the job done.\u00a0 Since our square footage is limited I&#8217;m really working on maximizing space.\u00a0 I have this wooden drawer box from Ikea which is a godsend.\u00a0 I organize all of my beads in here, a drawer for each color of the rainbow.\u00a0 It&#8217;s mounted on the wall in front of my desk.\u00a0 Need more of these!<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 260px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ikea Storage Wooden Compartments\" src=\"http:\/\/i11.photobucket.com\/albums\/a192\/omnipink\/woodendrawers.jpg\" alt=\"Ikea Storage Compartment Box\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ikea Storage Box with Drawers<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Here I&#8217;m working on a custom order of my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.etsy.com\/listing\/41679280\/corpse-bride-necklace\" target=\"_blank\">Corpse Bride Necklaces.<\/a> Creating in batches is always good; you can avoid getting bored and tired by  creating production-line style.\u00a0 The ribbon bulletin board adds color and interest and I can easily move things around.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div style=\"width: 361px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Making Skeleton Cameo Necklaces\" src=\"http:\/\/i11.photobucket.com\/albums\/a192\/omnipink\/DSC00299-1.jpg\" alt=\"Making Skeleton Cameo Necklaces\" width=\"351\" height=\"466\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Making Skeleton Cameo Necklaces<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Again with the assembly-line approach, this time for making some mushrooms and leaves for my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.etsy.com\/search_results_shop.php?search_query=woodland+collection&amp;search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_18207\" target=\"_blank\">Woodland Collection<\/a>.\u00a0 You can tell that caffeine fuels my creative urges &#8211;
