Blue and Orange Tutorial

Blue and Orange Tutorial

I had some requests to do a tutorial, so here it is. Constructive criticism is appreciated as this is my first attempt.

We’ll be recreating this look:

Here’s what you need…

Brushes and tools:

Don’t forget an eyelash curler!

Eye stuff:

I forgot to photograph MAC Parfait Amour e/s (dark purple) and Wild & Crazy Basic White e/s (highlight color).

1. Start with a clean, moisturized face. No pic of this step, sorry 🙂

2. Brush brows smooth and fill them in with the thin slanted brush (#7). FYI, I’m only doing one side of my face here.

See how nice the filled in brow looks compared with the scraggly other one? It gets a gold star.

3. Apply De-Crease from lashline to browbone, and blend with sponge or finger.

4. Apply Beige-ing shadestick. I apply it up to the black line. Blend upwards towards the brow.

5. Take your crease brush (#6) and pick up some Primary Yellow pigment. You don’t want a big messy chunk of color, so tap the brush in the lid or blow on it to get off the excess.

6. Apply Primary Yellow (a matte) to your inner crease like so. Go over it with Pure Luxe Golden Girl pigment for shimmer if you want, but it’s not required.

7. With the crease brush, get some Bombshell Bath Blitz pigment (also a matte) and apply it to the middle crease, slightly overlapping the Primary Yellow. We’re just drawing in the crease right now. Don’t worry about the lid or blending.

8. Get some Pure Luxe Fresh pigment on the crease brush. Very gently, blend the Blitz upwards. Also blend the yellow into the orange by stroking between them.

9. Time for blue! Use the stiff eyeshadow brush (#3) to pick up some Freshwater e/s.

Apply like so.

10. Now get ready for lots of blending. Get your fluffy blending brush (#1) and blend the orange and yellow upwards. Do this by making little swirls along the harsh line of color. Back and forth, up and down.

11. Now blend the orange and yellow downwards into the lid, using short strokes.

12. Clean off the brush a little and blend the blue in towards the center of your eye.

13. Also blend the blue upwards towards your brow.

14. Now you have this. Compare this picture to that in #9. It’s a lot more blended, see? But there’s still a weird line between the orange and blue (circled). If you blended straight between these colors, you’d get an ugly brownish green color. We’re gonna take care of that.

15. Clean your crease brush and pick up some Parfait Amour e/s.

16. Delicately dab the Parfait Amour right where the orange and blue meet.

17. Now you can dab on some more Freshwater and Blitz to liven up the colors.

18. Take your fluffy blending brush (#1) and get some MAC Honesty e/s.

19. Apply Honesty to the middle of the lid, where there is no color. Blend the surrounding colors inwards.

20. Take your slanted fluffy brush (#2) and get some Wild & Crazy Basic White e/s.

21. Apply it right under the brow, and blend with small spiral strokes.

22. Take the Kryolan icey blue pencil and line your upper AND lower waterline. Woah, hello yellow picture.

23. Use the large brush (#4) to whisk away any eyeshadow that may have fallen on your face. I don’t know why this picture is yellow too, hm.

24. Curl those lashes.

25. Apply two coats of mascara for big sexy eyes. Brush out any clumps. Don’t forget the bottom lashes!

Congrats, you did it! The final product will look something like this.

And the full face:

Did you learn something?  Let me know what you think! <3
