That month’s ca.thar.sis was a kind of “Ladies Night,” with four women DJs – Christi and Wendy (the residents) and me and Jenn (guests from Pittsburgh). After Wendy’s slot, Jason (Cyber Strukture) played a great show. Everytime I hear his music on expensive sound systems I notice more of the nuances of the sound. The smoke machine was a cool touch, too. Then Jenn DJed, and then it was my turn! I spun from 12:15 to 1:15. The time flew by; I was left wishing that I had more. I managed to keep several energetic dancers out on the floor (keep in mind this dancefloor could only comfortably hold maybe 6 dancers). It was my first time DJing on an enormous studio mixer that had maybe 25+ channels, but it wasn’t much of a problem. Their CD players were a dream. I was thrilled to caress their soft supple buttons, oooh 😉
After my set, we said our goodbyes and headed home. I was so impressed with the ca.thar.sis crew’s hospitality. They were so gracious and made us feel completely at home. Thanks, guys! I look forward to working with them again.

DJ Nurse Allison DJing Alchemy
I have been DJing as DJ Nurse Allison since 2002. After getting my start on the local public access radio station, I branched off into college radio and spinning at clubs across the East Coast. You may have caught my sets at industrial/goth/fetish events such as Alchemy in Washington DC, Ceremony in Pittsburgh, NEO in Chicago, or BYTE in New York City. These days I have largely hung up the headphones, but my heart still beats loud for any type of electronic music. This section of the site houses playlists and show fliers, as well as information on upcoming music events.
